About
All Is Opinion
This is not a place where I tell people what to think.
It is a place where I think out loud.
The internet has plenty of opinions. It has very few thinking processes.
We usually get the finished version: the confident take, the neat conclusion, the argument polished until all the uncertainty has disappeared. But that isn’t really how most of us think. At least, it isn’t how I think.
I change my mind. I contradict myself. Something I was certain about ten years months ago looks different now. Sometimes a memory changes the way I see an idea. Sometimes technology does. Sometimes my children do. Sometimes I just notice something while walking down the street and can’t stop thinking about it.
That’s what this site is for.
I write about AI and technology because I have spent much of my life around them. But I also write about work, family, memory, culture, places, aging, relationships, and the strange experience of trying to make sense of modern life while actually living it.
There probably won’t be a clean theme connecting every piece.
The connection is me trying to understand something.
I am not particularly interested in having a “take” on everything. I am more interested in the questions underneath the take: Why do I believe this? Where did that belief come from? Has it changed? What am I missing? What happens when two things I believe don’t quite fit together?
Some essays may arrive at an answer.
Some probably won’t.
That’s okay.
Thinking is a process, not a performance. And perhaps writing some of that process down—in all its uncertainty, contradiction, memory and occasional absurdity—is more interesting than pretending I had the answer all along.
So that’s All Is Opinion.
Come watch me think.
